Video Summary
All right, in this lesson, we’re going to go over the product data section right here. And this is probably like the most important section to make your website work. Make your score work. And the reason is because this is where you can set up your pricing and how your product set up what shipping parameters you need, all that kind of stuff. So first off, let’s just look over here when it says simple product, and we’ll just do a drop down. So what we can do here is, is that we can set up a simple product, group product, external and affiliate product and variable products. Now we’re gonna go over these one by one. Basically, the simple product is just a regular product. It’s just what we have here as we have let’s just say this is a bundle of Nick’s berries. And we’re, the price they’re selling it for is $54 on sale and Reva price is 67. It’s a lot but it’s a it’s a demo product, right? So basically that’s what some of the product is. A variable product is something that you like you have, like if I’m selling a t shirt, you can pick you can pick between small, medium, large, extra large double x and so on.
A good product is is that maybe there’s let’s say if we were selling so like raspberries, strawberries and blackberries, we can potentially have all those individual ones call it next berries, and they can pick how many bundles from each one they want to buy external and affiliate products. That’s like a product that you you’re not necessarily you don’t necessarily own or sell yourself, but you can potentially sell it on your website and collect a commission for it.
Those virtual is let’s say like I use virtual if I’m selling my services. So let’s say if someone wanted to buy a website from him, I would make that a virtual product. And what you’re what you’re saying is is that a virtual product doesn’t need to be shipped. So if you click on virtual you see that the shipping section over here went away and if I open this back up, shipping comes back up downloadable, is basically if you like say if you were selling a a game or maybe you had an e book that you that you’re willing to sell or if he you know needed in a PDF or any kind of file you can make this a downloadable product and you can potentially limit how many downloads they get, how long they can download it for and you can add your file right there.
Now let’s scroll down to general and this is where you set up your pricing. So you can either say like if you don’t want a sale price, you don’t have anything and just sell it for $67 or if you want to say we’re going to sell it for seven but or rather price six, seven, maybe 15 is what you want to sell for. You can also select the range of when you want your sale to to happen. So let’s say if you know we’re going to do a 50% off but we’re only gonna do it for this week. So you know you’re creating some scarcity for that product. So that’s a that’s that can be a very advantageous move for you. Let’s keep scrolling down to inventory. Now if you are working with if you’re working with a vendor, and they you’ve basically got like a wholesaler that you’re getting a lot of your blog your products from and they have certain SK use and you this is where you’re gonna want to put those SKU is right here so that way you can help manage those. Now stock management, track stock quantities for this project. That our product that is a pretty big thing if you if you have a product that gets sold out frequently or you’re not really able to get it that often or are you really are the lead time is so long that you want to know like okay, if I get to the last 10 products, I want to know so you might want to stay here, track this and give you your actual stock quantity. So that’s where you can say well I got 3030 that I have and you do that also too is you want to allow back orders do not allow allow but notify customer or just allow. So let’s say if you have 30 And now you’re down to one and you sell three that day do you want to tell the customer Hey, you know, we’ll still get this for you. But it might be like two or three weeks if you don’t have it in stock. Or do you want to say hey, we’ll allow it. We can get that product a couple of days they won’t know the difference and we’ll let it ride. So that’s what the inventory really is about the low stock threshold. So basically what like what this is is when the Sox reinsertion certain amount you’ll be notified. So that’s where if you say I have 30 and you want to say well, if once it gets down to 10 I want to get an email that says hey, you know, it’s time to order more, right? And you could you could pretty much say sold individually limit purchases to one item per order. So that way you can manage your stock a little bit better. And that’s how you can set up inventory. Now shipping, shipping here is where you can.
Shipping is where you can set up how many how much weight and the actual dimensions of the box product. This can help out when you’re integrating into shipping solutions like ShipStation or UPS.
And also to is like these are in kilograms and centimeters. When we get into WooCommerce we’ll be able to change that over to two pounds and and here is the shipping class. We don’t have any Shipping Classes right now. But basically Shipping Classes are something that you can customize yourself. So let’s say if you have to ship out of state. So let’s say if you are in let’s say you’re in New York and you have to distribute your order is getting shipped to Los Angeles.
That’s going to be a different shipping amount than it would be if like New York shipped to say Chicago. So what you can do is and we’re gonna get into that later in this course, but we’re gonna go over how you can set up all these different Shipping Classes and how you can make sure that once your shipping is set up, that you you’ll be able to charge the client just what they need so that way you’re not losing money on your sales.
Now link products, this is where you can upsell and cross sell if you wanted to. So let’s say if I say if like if they were they order this batch of berries. That’s where you can say well upsell Do you want you know if you buy three more, you know like like, since you bought this we have also have a variety pack where you can maybe you know get three times as much but pay you know double the money or something like that. cross sell would be like, Okay, I see that you’re getting berries, but you might want a banana or maybe you want, you know, maybe some other foods. All right, like that’s kind of what the crossovers and we’ll get into how we set that up. Later in this lesson in this course, attributes, attributes is where you can create.
Don’t worry about that. So I think we got a good idea of how a product page is set up. And what I want to do now is I think the idea is I think we should just go through and I want to build out a simple product a group product, a external product affiliate product, any variable product. So with that being said let’s stop this video and let’s just start adding some new products, see in the next lesson.
