14. Testing Our Shop Product Pages

Video Summary

All right everyone right now we are looking at the shop right sidebar page. And if we hover over our shop, they give us multiple different options. So we get shop grid shop, right shop left sidebar. Basically we know that the left is over here. And we know our grid is basically just instead of having a sidebar, we just view our view one more row of products. Now if we go here to shop, what happens is, is that we’ve not seen anything and the reason why is because we have a duplicate shop page. Now if you remember at the beginning of this course, I said let’s just download the WooCommerce or the WordPress application and not the WordPress plus WooCommerce because that might happen and ends up it ends up happening that this theme forced us to install the WooCommerce plugin first and then when we import the data so we import another set of shop pages so that’s why this one became a surf shop became shop too. So if we just come here and delete this, and we’re just a shop and we hit enter. Now we are back into our sections. So one of the things I’m noticing as soon as it landed is it says bunny Chow. And I’m looking down here and that’s the first product so for whatever reason, this theme is showing us the first product of what’s being displayed. Now, if we go over if you go back to the right sidebar, which is the same product page, right? It’s displaying the same way. And let’s go let’s open this up here to this section here.

And sourcing the same one blue see shop right sidebar, but that’s what the title of this pages so we can essentially change this to shop and just make this our actual, you know the shop page that the users see. Just because we need to specify to WooCommerce and WordPress that this is our shop page doesn’t mean that we have to use that page as such, right. If you remember in the last lesson, we were able to we were able to set up our own product grids and our own setups right here. So we’re not limited to the this actual shop page where it’s got this weird title for whatever the first product is. Because probably odds are depending on how you’re displaying these products. The first one is not going to be the the overall arching theme or title that you’d want to represent this whole page. So even though we’re seeing that that’s not a big deal, let’s scroll to the bottom here. And we got this cool little section here. Let’s see what happens in our shop page. That doesn’t, it does not so so not only does that’s nothing too as if you come here to the shop page and we’re looking at the top here. Um, we’re not seeing like we can edit this page. Because basically, more times than not when you dedicate a shop page with a WooCommerce thing, or we’re like our WooCommerce or you have WooCommerce on your theme or your website that basically it just overrides anything that’s on that page and does allow you to do anything. They would allow you to have your widget, your sidebar widgets and your products over here. But if we can set up our own now we can have these this cool little call out here. We could even put a banner, like a promotional banner that we can say like this could be 50% off, right so if we ended up opening this up and or opening up Elementor into a new tab.

So one thing I did do as I did open up this shop page, and I want to let you know that I was trying to see if I could get my GED elements or to see if we could add this page and it’s just not letting up. So if you remember in our Elementor course, if if you’re setting up a page or you’re trying to convert a custom post type, or you’re trying to use anything that’s just not necessarily standard Elementor pages you have to make sure your template is Elementor full length for it to really work. So I did set this up and I clicked edit with Elementor and it says you sure you want to leave? I said yes. Let’s leave. I’m okay with it. And it gets here and it says the preview cannot be loaded. Go back.

I know that’s the case that should work for most things. But what it’s telling me is that they’re not letting us really edit anything on the shop page. This is just the standard. Once you get into the once you get into like their standardized shop page. That’s that’s all you can do and you can just scroll through all of your products here, right? So more times than not you’re not going to set up your WooCommerce site with just one shot page. Anyways, you’re going to have your question you might have like search bars you might have like category dropdowns right so if you go to like home three, right? Like you’re gonna make it easier for them to go and find what they want. You know, if you’re, if you’re a good ecommerce company, and maybe you have multiple different categories and products, right, like maybe you’re a hunting and fishing reseller or like product seller, right I mean, you can have like fishing you can have rods, reels tackle live bait, boat, you know, boats, kayaks, you know, they were talking about hunting and you got guns, bows, arrows, ammunition, ammo, you know, I mean, there’s a ton of stuff so you don’t want to have we don’t have to have everyone go through every single product of yours, one by one to find it. You’re gonna want to set it up to where you can go in and just narrow down their searches for the things that they’re looking at. So So that being said, I think we got a good understanding of our our shop page options and I think we’re going to be okay, no matter what happens.

So with that being said, I think I think the next thing we’ll try to do is we’ll just do a fake checkout to make sure that we can we check we see what our account looks like. We see what are our cart and checkout look like? Everything’s looking good there. We’ll go to Customize. And then after everything, the customer will figure out what we can do there. And then after that, we will jump right into learning more about WooCommerce how we can set up our taxes, our shipping, all the cool stuff that we need to use to actually run our E commerce site. So I’ll see you guys in the next lesson.
