10. Keyword Strategies

Video Summary

Alright guys, so we’re gonna start talking about keyword strategies and how to choose the right keywords.

Alright, so obviously you want to pick keywords that are going to be relevant to your goals for your business or industry. If you are trying to get leads for your local contracting business, you need to be focusing on keywords that are relevant to people who are searching for your services. If you’re trying to sell dog toys, right, you need to have keywords that are relevant to people who are looking or looking to buy dog toys, right. So that kind of leads me into our second section and that’s called intent. And this is the intent of the search, right? So there’s transactional commercial navigational and information. Now, one series of kind of are variations of a similar keywords can really change up the search results for what you’re trying to do.

Like for instance, like a, like if someone’s trying to buy a car, they’re gonna need a lot more information before they’re gonna go and actually buy a car. Right but certain industries like say pizza, right? I don’t really need to know too much about pizza right? I can just go right in. Go pizza near me. And I can go and say all right, let’s look you know, I can look at price I can look at the different websites, you know which ones closest to me. Which ones I have I ate before, right? So I’m I’m already have a free frequency notions of what I’m looking for. And you know, and kind of commercial and navigation are kind of like in between, you know, navigational could be that if you have a storefront, you might want to if someone’s like, hey, where do I buy a say where do I buy a tent before I go camping? That would be a kind of a combination between navigational and transactional. Right, because you want to go where can I actually physically go, but also to is they’re probably going to show you online vendors who are selling tents, alright, so knowing you know, how you how you’re looking to get your results, or the results you’re trying to get from a keyword is how you should set up your your content and know that each one of these will have a different search engine results. Page, which is basically what we’re looking at here. Alright, so if I’m looking how to make a good pizza, they’re not thrown any sponsor any Google ads, which is basically if we come here to Pizza near me.

Now keyword type, alright, so there’s like broad match phrase match and exact match. And this, this kind of goes a little bit towards ad spending, but I do think it’s a good idea to know the difference. So So for instance, I looked up pizza and the search results came as information about pizza. You know, we’re you know, what was its origin? What is its nutritional facts? Here’s some actual pizza places.

You know, here’s like the TripAdvisor best pizza like it so it’s given me a little bit of everything right? That would be considered a broad match. And exactly match would be how to make a good pizza. Alright. So when you’re talking about a topic, the keywords that you should use should be more broad match, right? Like, like if you’re talking about pizza pizza would be the main keyword, but you can you can vary that or use variations of that. And so be able to rank fairly high for pizza. Phrase match would be close, because two best pizza places. That’s fifth best pizza places. In Detroit. So it’s not super exact match, but it is. It’s still very getting a lot of very specific, right? So if you’re thinking about you’re setting up titles, like broaden, broaden that should be they just focus on the keywords that are going to matter phrase match on this inserting a typical phrase that gets searched a lot, in a sense, and then exact match would be how, like, how do I make a good pizza on a wood fire stove? Right? That’s a very specific thing. So you could create an article or a web page talking that’s titled How to make a good pizza on a wood Firestone. Alright so knowing between you know, air you exactly targeting and broad match or exact match. Broad match allows you to target you know, the really heavy kid you know, the really big keywords that you want to go for phrase match allows you get a little bit more specific, exact match allows you to get exactly what you want. So the thing is, is that exact match in a heavily competitive keyword, you might be able to create a string like a sentence or a phrase that’s very, very niche very peculiar that does get maybe say 50 or 60 hits a month, that was like that people search for like, you know, throughout the whole United States or potentially even the world. And you could you could take that exact match and you can rank you know, top three with that. So there is ways around heavily competitive keywords and that’s just, you know, find out exactly how to set that up. So, one thing too is that was kinda leads me to next one is keyword volume. All right, so when you’re, and I’m going to end in the next video, I’m going to be showing you the tools that you can use to be able to the tools that you can use to be able to really do your life go to keyword research.

But for right now, all we need to talk about is just kind of the concept for the time being so keyword volume is an estimated amount of searches that the whole United States or a country or a region or potentially multiple countries or regions will look up in a certain month. Okay. So if your target market says the United States and you look up pizza, right, you can see how many times that’s good shirts throughout the whole United States. And if you have the right software, which does get a little bit pricey that you can figure out exactly how many searches that a certain keyword hits within a city or a state. Right.

Now, if you’re looking at if you’re if you’re a local business and you’re looking at the you’re looking at the whole United States and you’re talking about volume it’s still a very good indicator on quality of keywords. Um, because you want a you want to have the keywords gonna get a ton of volume, right? And if you rank high on keywords that have a ton of volume, you you’ll get so much organic traffic, it will be great. But here’s the here’s the here’s the downside with this is that there’s there’s a thing called keyword difficulty. And basically what they claim is is how hard it will be to rank the top 10 searches for a certain keyword. All right, so if a keyword is if a keyword is getting tons of volume, and it’s a very popular industry because it’s getting tons of volume, then you can really capitalize on if it’s lifted to the low keyword difficulty and high volume, you can target a lot of your keywords and the stuff that you want. To do based off of this. Alright, but also to is that if you have a keyword difficulty, and it’s ranked out of zero to 100 So if you have a keyword ranking of say 100 you it’s gonna be very, very hard, if not impossible. For you to rank in the top 10 of that keyword.

Now there is like local there’s there’s three local SEO and national SEO. So just because a keyword might be super hard to rank for in certain cities that might be not as hard as for others. But just know that if a keyword difficulty is in probably anywhere from like, I’d say 70 to 100. It’s going to be pretty hard for you to compete, at least on an organic rank, but there is ways around that and you can also figure out different keyword variations and targets.

Alright, so I’m gonna pause almost on this video here. I think we’ve kind of gone over the strategies I think at the end the day to really show you the software that you can use to do this research will help you out.
