Video Summary

All right everyone. In this lesson we’re going to learn about a really cool plugin called pop up maker. And this is how you can set up predetermined pop ups when people land on your site or visit a certain page or potentially even click on a button and open up a pop up. 

The one thing I do want to say before we hop in and start installing this is that there if you look if you type in pop up maker in your add plugins section and your dashboard to pop up makers will come up and they’ll both be by popup maker, right and I know that’s fairly confusing, but I want you to click on the one that’s got the 700,000 installs. And it has this little like green gearbox with like five little stars right here. 

All right, if you see this red version, this one, I haven’t played around with that plugin too much. I just know it’s one of those premium plugins and it wasn’t giving me enough juice or enough functionality to really work with it and I didn’t want to really learn a new system. So I’ve set this up on multiple clients websites, I have it on my own, and it’s worked great for me. It does have a couple of add ons you can that’s not found that’s available through WordPress or new gonna, but if you want to get that it is a solid plugin. It just gives you different ways to target a certain functionality when the pop up comes up. But for the most part, the free version works great for pretty much everything else you need to do. 

And now we have to pick like our time delay. And I’ll say 500 That’s like in 500 milliseconds is like a half a second. So they’ll land on the page will pop right open, I will click Add. Alright, so what we did right now is we created a time delay, auto open trigger, that’s half of a second. And also to is we set up a cookie on that we set up a cookie for us. So basically, this is a cookie that just says this pop up will only come up for like once a month. So if someone went to this website and went to our website and went to the homepage, they’d have the pop up and the pop up wouldn’t come up for say another month. You can also go in here and you can change from one month to one second to one minute to one hour to one week to 10 weeks to 10 months to 10 years. You can just write out what you need right here and that’s how long the cookie will last for right now one month. And actually two is what I like to do is what I’m testing this out is only to do one, one second update. So that way I can keep refreshing it and see the pop up over and over again until I’m ready to decide what settings I want. Alright, now let’s pick targeting. Targeting we can choose a condition where the or world will come up or the pop up will come up. You can choose homepage. You can do posts so posts with a cat a certain category posts with a certain tag pages by pages selected or a page ID. 

You can also do all WooCommerce pages shop pages Cart Checkout on your different templates your different products or different product categories. Different maybe products was Shipping Classes, portfolios, templates, events, landing pages, formats, media tags, product categories, pretty much anything you would really ever want to target. 

We’re gonna go over here to display and you get to see where your pop up will come up. Do you want it at the Plaza like a top bar if you want as a bottom left notice or bottom right slide in or just center pop up. Usually I like to use the center pop up because if I’m reusing a problem we want to gain their attention and we want them to be basically diverted to noticing that so I’m gonna do center pop up. 

Let’s go to appearance and we get to pick a theme my favorite themes, just the enterprise blue but we’ll go through the different themes here in a second size you get to choose medium large is usually just stand with the normal size animation if you want to fade in or do a slide or slide and fade. Others do fade in it’s usually pretty good sounds I never really do a sound you know I don’t like having sounds that are just pushed on.
