4.c Extracting Database files And Replacing Old URL With New URL

Video Summary

Alright guys so once we have our files all set up inside grauwe I want us to do is come back to local, local by flywheel click on database right here, and then click on open adminer Alright, and once we’re right here, what I want us to do is come over here and click on next course. And this is a very typical database outline. Usually here is your database tables, that setup for different things with WordPress, and the plugins that you have. And here, here’s all the different different tables and if you clicked on these, you’d have different information but for right now, we don’t have to worry about any of that. We’re not here to learn about databases, we’re just exporting. So we come here and click Export. And we want to do is you want to make sure that you have save, you have SQL and leave everything else as it is just make sure you have save here. And what you can do is click Export. Alright, I’ve already downloaded this and I have this here in Visual Studio code. And I’ll show you the this is Visual Studio code this is the coding software or coding editor that I showed you earlier on in this course. You can use really any coding editor, but I find that it’s free and the Visual Studio code is by far my favorite that I’ve used and what we’re going to do is we’re going to come here to File and we’re going to go to Edit and we’re going to go replace, right here and replace.

And paste this in. And what I’m gonna do is I’m just gonna leave the HTTP out. I only want to target just the local test dot local All right, that’s all I want to change. Alright, so with mine, mine doesn’t have a ton of stuff of it. So what I’m seeing right here is that I only have 10 but if you have a fully built out website, you might have hundreds of these through your database. So either way, if you have 10 or 1000 This process will still work. So what I want you to do is I want you to go to your domain right here.

Manual dot clutches of courses, and what we’re gonna do is we’re gonna go to our subdomains, and what I want to do is I want to copy this just word for word, just so I don’t have any spelling check or any grant grammatical errors. We needed to have this be 100% Perfect. Alright, and another thing too is you got to make sure that you don’t have any spaces before or after, because that will mess up. All right, so let’s just see, I don’t have any errors. And what I can do now is let’s cover going to be replaced one by one or replace them all. I’m going to replace all and now our now are all of our dog our URLs throughout the whole database is set up correctly. And what I want to do now is I’m going to go click save, control I did command us you can also come here and you know, we could also just come here and go let’s do let’s do a Save As and we’ll do what we’ll do is do local task dot SQL, and you gotta have to use make sure you have the dot SQL at the end, otherwise, it won’t work.
