Video Summary
Alright guys, so we’re going to cover the subscription settings right here. And what I want to just say is that when we’re working with add ons and you’re looking to see what settings the new add on has, going to the WooCommerce settings and checking the tabs is always like my first place where I would go. Now I know that the first example we did was products and they had add ons right here, but in my experience, more times than not, the new settings will be connected to these settings tabs. So just a heads up. But anyways, let’s get into it. So now you can create what the button says.
When people are trying to sign up for your subscriptions, I think Sign up now works. Maybe you are maybe you’re like booking appointments so maybe it’s like fourth now whatever you want you can change right here so this would be the add to cart and then once it once you’re in the checkout, this would be your Place Order button, right. So you can change those there. Now roles now depending on how you have your website set up.
You can you can attribute different user roles depending on when they when they sign up for a subscription. Now the subscriber is like the default role. And then basically if they be if the subscription goes inactive they go to customer but you can add your own user roles if you wanted to. And then attach that so basically you could come here and you know maybe you wanted to say this is a Mr. Maybe customer maybe this is a student or maybe this is a associate or whatever it may be you can change this here but the default roles is just subscriber and customer and I think that works for most people but if you need our if you want to you have that option to change that. Alright, $0 initial checkout allows Eurodollar initial checkout without a payment method. Basically, you allow a subscription product with a $0 initial payment to be purchased without providing a payment method. So if that’s something that you wanted to just maybe you had a product where you’re trying to give like a free trial out and you don’t want to take their credit card information, you want them to be able to use this product for maybe like a week or two, you know, with risk free so if you wanted to set that up, you could use that they’re drip downloadable content. So maybe if your subscriptions are set up to where maybe their downloads, so and you want to vary it out, you want to space it out, so maybe it’s like every month you get a new download. So that’s where you can enable that settings.
I would look like I need to have this turned on because as you’re if you’re doing a subscription business and as your business begins to grow, and let’s say you’ve got 100 People that are that are subscribing to your product, all right, and let’s say five of them don’t like when when the renewal comes about say five, five, all your 100 Customers have a bad maybe their credit cards maxed out or maybe they got their credit card stolen, and now like that shut down whatever it may be. But let’s say you have five people that didn’t pay, you want to be able to automatically keep trying that because if say you wait, maybe 20, you know, 12 hours, 24 hours and then a couple of days later that the payment goes through then great.
And you know we need to update your credit card information. Now that could all be avoided if you enable the failed, retry failed payments, so set that right there. If you want you can accept manual renewals so maybe the customer wants to pay early they can. So you can set that up here. Auto renewal toggle display an auto renewals. So basically, a lot of customers are turn off and on their renewals via their via the subscription page. And the subscription page is attached to your My account. But I I rather it depends if you just don’t want to deal with the hassle of interacting with your customers but I would rather potentially try to talk to one of my customers if they were going to want to cancel the subscription in order to maybe see one to see why they’re canceling and to you know potentially try to keep them on as a customer in some way shape or form. You know, maybe it’s giving them a discount or working with them because they’re having an A tough month.
You could also set in early or early renewal payments via modal slash your account view my subscription page. It’s kind of attached to the manual renewals anyways and now the synchronized renewals align subscription renewal days. so that’s where if you wanted to, you could have all of your subscriptions renewed at the same day every month. so that can be really helpful when you are let’s say you you have a monthly recurring and say you want to get billed at the first of every month.
