8. New Product – External Affiliate

Video Summary

Alright guys, in this lesson we are going to set up an external or affiliate product. And when I talk about an external or affiliate product, what that means is that you are selling a product that’s not on your website. Alright? So there’s products that other companies have, and they have what they call an affiliate program. So what they’ll do is is that though gets you a link that is just very unique to you. So that way they can track the traffic that they get from you, no matter if you post it on your website. You have it in your online store or you post it on social media. As someone clicks on that link your designated link and then goes to that page and purchases it.

The affiliate, the PERT the people who are selling that product or service will give you a cut back, right. That’s something that you that’s like a whole nother section that I like to get into in a whole nother lesson. But if you have a setup like that, this is what external affiliate products can do for you. So you can set up attributes you can set up different things, but ideally what you want to do is this isn’t really set up for variations. This is set up for you can set your attributes and say that these are the options you have. But once someone like they serve is show a product and have them click on a button and you’re going to send to an order link. Alright, so I’m just going to use my my link clutch didi.com I don’t know if you’re going to need http colon forward slash. All this brought that and I was put by on clutch DD just for this example, right, so we got that there and we’ll say the regular price is just 100 bucks, and it’s on sale for 25 bucks. Alright, so we’ll just say for this one.

You can set up your own photo and let’s let’s do it. Let’s just click this one and be fine for that we’ll make sure our steak what I will do too is I’m gonna add a category I’m gonna put put a X slash a slow access terminal slash affiliate.

The the might be just nice to be able to break your not only divide or sort your categories out by your external and affiliate categories, but also to ex AF isn’t a isn’t a very descriptive some that maybe not everyone knows will know what that is. I might just overlook it. So we’ll just call this a new category.

And we’ll have this there so you can you can have multiple categories for one product. So we’ll have steak and we’ll be the external affiliate one. And we’ll just say this one as well. Let’s put this clutch DD and that as the brand let’s just say my I changed my company from digital consulting to steaks and now we’re trying to brand that out. Alright. So if you wanted to you can manage the SKU. You can try you know, maybe do some link products. You can set up attributes if if you wanted to let you know let’s let’s not create a new one. Let’s remove let’s just choose the weight and size and we’ll just select all and we have the setup here.

So the person who sees the button, right, they’re not going to actually see what what that URL is let’s click on it, but like, but when they do click on it, they’ll have like a tracking code in the URL. That’s, that’s specific to you. So if you do purchase anything, you’re getting the credit for it. Alright, so that’s how you set up an external product. I didn’t really need to go through a I think by now you know how to set up a product and the descriptions and the product images. Really what we’re getting down to is just the product data and how you set that up. And that’s how you do it. So we’ll go into or group product last. And now that one’s pretty straightforward.
