Alright guys, in this video we’re going to cover how you can handle users in your WordPress website. Now you might have you know, you might handle users and multiple different ways. Let’s say let’s say you just have a basic you know informational website right you’re you don’t have any you’re not like restricting any content where someone has to become a member, you’re not selling anything so you don’t so someone doesn’t have to register for an account so they could purchase an item so you know, they can register their name, email, phone number, shipping address, billing address, credit card information, right. But you might want someone or another member of your business, have access to the website, you want to make them wait. You might want to make them an administrator, you might have someone who just handles the blog posting, so you just have them handle the the post sections, and this is how you can manage all that stuff from right here. So we’re going to do is like we’re gonna create a fake a fake user right here. We’re going to click Add New, and I’m just gonna put username, I’m just gonna put support. 

If you have a language preference, you could set that there but more times than not you won’t need to set up and you can create an email for them. Or you can just check you know you click Generate and have a bunch of different ones or if you know, an email that they want to use, right you can set that up right here. Also too is this tends to not matter. If you if this is checked. It will send the new user an email about their account. So when they get the email, they’ll click on this link and they can set their own password. But if they don’t click on that link, whatever password you set up here will be defaulted. And if you click on here that you’re not going to send them an email, then basically you’re just forcing them to use whatever password you generated for him. And then right here is where you get to pick between what what user role you want to use. So there’s shop manager which handles the E commerce side of things. Customer is obviously just someone who is who has purchased something from your website. A subscriber is just someone who has an account with you. 

Maybe that’s because they’re trying to get some extra information if they log into their account. You know, maybe they get access to information that the public doesn’t see. contributor, editor and author so contributor could basically like you can post something an author is that you can although they’re very similar, that there’s really not too much of a distinction between these two, in my opinion and editor is that you can you can edit. You can edit certain things with throughout the site and administrators just the full fledged the full like it like pretty much where we are right like we can go in here and do anything we want. So so if it’s someone in your in your organization that you trust, you know, use administrator but it was someone that you know, someone that you just you don’t want to have them full access, you know, you can use different things here. Now I am going to show you a plugin where you can create your own user roles, or even edit the user or the things that people can do in the these standard user roles that you come with. So essentially, you can put someone into a new user role and just say you can only do X y&z Or you know, you can limit them to your limit them what they can do, but for right now we’re just gonna click Add New User and what we’re going to do i this person is Jim Smith is a subscriber. What I’m gonna do is I’m just gonna come over here and click Edit. Now if you if, if you’re dealing with a customer who can be forgetful and not very tech savvy and doesn’t know how to work the forgot password you can put you can send them a quick send password reset so that it sends them an email that they can go in and reset it for them that they just still pray basically they just deleted their all their old passwords so they can set a new one. But if you come here and click Edit this is where you can you can kind of choose the color theme for them if they are an administrator. I don’t really think it’s super necessary. 

The visit, like I don’t even worry about the visual editor. Keyboard shortcuts don’t worry about that as well. Basically like what more often than not what you’re going to pretty much manage the user as is like changing out like the user role of data, maybe their name or potentially their nickname. 

And that’s pretty simple and straightforward. More times than not all you really need to do is update the name of their email or reset their password and maybe update their customer or billing information for the attack or the not tech savvy user. Well in that this is how you set that up. so this will wrap this lesson up and move on to the next section.
