Video Summary
In this lesson, we’re going to cover subdomains.
In the last lesson we were talking about maintenance mode to where we’re able to make sure that all visitors that don’t have admin access, see a maintenance page while we get to build and transform our site until we’re ready to launch.
But throughout this course, we’re going to be using things called subdomains and a subdomain is basically an entirely different website that is referenced off of your main domain.
So let’s just hop in and you’ll see exactly what’s happening as we as as it unfolds. So we’re gonna come over here to domain and we’re gonna come over here to subdomains Alright, so once we get here, if you hover over you’ll see it’ll show you your URL. But if you look in the splint, expand this, if you can see that there’s a little dot behind the clutch behind the at the beginning of your domain. And what we’re doing essentially is we’re making a repository for a whole another domain that we can essentially build a website off of.
This is a great cheap, efficient way to be able to create another website that you can either do tasks from basically transfer or transfer or migrate your main website from your main domain to a subdomain so you can do testing to make sure that certain things you’re working on are actually going to work or if they’re going to break your website. That way your website’s never down.
And throughout this course, we’re going to use these subdomains to build different websites.
In this, the subdomain is more or less for our learning and doesn’t it’s not really going to affect you or your business.
So with that being said, I think we should hop over and really start discussing themes, and how we’re going to be able to take this plain jane website of ours from this into something very stunning and elegant.
