Video Summary

In this section, we’re going to cover how we can crop photos, which is the second most important thing that we need to figure out how to use when it comes to taking the stock images with images that you have yourself that you’re taking from your phone or digital camera, and being able to readjust them and crop them out so that they fit exactly how we need them to fit on our web pages. So what we’re going to do is make sure that you click here on Edit, and you come over here and you can click crop. 

And what we’re going to do is, as from here, we’re going to click on free and we’re gonna come over to the image and we’re going to click and drag and we can set up the exact size as we want. This is really good for if you’re really trying to get the perfect the perfect area around the dog or an object, right. So you can get just get this down right there. 

And you can hit enter or you can click here crop and now you have pretty much that dog in a perfect rectangle. So I’m going to Ctrl Z or Command Z and depending on what kind of operating system you’re on, we’ll come back here to click crop. And what’s nice about here is that you can set up the exact portions of height and width that you’re looking for. So if you use one by one it just creates a perfect square because for every unit left or left or right, it does the same amount of units down so you end up getting a perfect square. So like Sophie come over here, and if you look down, if you look in the middle and when I’m clicking over here 500 by 500 so it creates the perfect square and if we hit enter, then we have a perfect square of that dog. Now what and I can go and also to is you got three by four, one by two. So let’s just try let’s do one by two. All right. So now if we come over here, we can do a rectangle that’s perfect or what I can do is come down here and do a one by two, like more of a tall rectangle, depending on which how you drag. 

And now we can just position it. Now what I tend to use more often than not, is I use custom. So let’s click on custom. And what this does is as you can use ratio, but I would rather use when it comes to custom, I rather use the size because we can pick the exact pixels that we need. A picture to be. So if you think about it when we you understand this when we start getting into the actual WordPress page building, is that what I’ll do is I’ll figure out the exact size of that image that the theme is using and I will use the exact width and height of that pitcher. And then I will put that exact height. So let’s just say if I wanted 500 pixels, tall and 700 pixels wide, and that’s what I’m trying to replicate. I can just put that right in here. Click OK. And now I have the exact size that I need. So if I went around the stock, kind of put them right in the middle I hit Enter. Now this image will replicate the exact size of the image that’s on our theme or section or our page and now it will fit perfectly it will be altered it won’t be you know distorted it will fit like a glove exactly what we want. Well, let’s go back because I want to show you one more thing is that when you can use a circular crop and when I use a circular crop, I always like to use a one by one because if you think about it, if I if let’s just say if I use free in a circular crop, you know I can make an oval and maybe you name it. There’s a feature that you do want to have an oval, you know maybe an oval tall, or maybe an oval or oval wide, maybe an oval Tom and you want to use that and that’s an image that you think would look really great. By all means use it. I’m going to hit Ctrl Z. And what what I tend to do more often is that if I’m doing a circle I want to be perfect circle. So using a one by one does give you that perfect circle, right? And now if I hit enter, now I have a perfect circle of this dog. And let’s go back. Now what I do want to say too is if we go here to crop is that there is an option for perspective. But this tends to be there’s there’s not really many cases and you can just basically set up a trapezoid. If you want, you can click crop, and now it just kind of distorts it into a square. I don’t really recommend using it but I just wanted to show you that because it was part of this demo. But again like you know you have you got this tool. So you get to play with this as much as you want and get the photo exactly how you need it to be for your website. So with that being said, that kind of covers how we can crop these images.
