5. Positioning and Resizing Image

Video Summary

Alright, we’re gonna start manipulating these photos the way we want to. And we’re going to start off by just focusing on the resizing of the photo. And let me show you what I mean by this. So we’ll just use this little girl playing with the dog and Autumn Woods photo right here. And I want you to go over here to this top part and we’re going to play with this. So what happens if we rotate this 90 degrees? Now we have a rotated 90 degrees, you can do it again. You’ll flip it over and if you want to rotate it back, you can use it this way. Now you can also rotate it exactly how you want it. So instead of maybe 90 degrees, you want it in a different way. You can change the background to different patterns if you choose to.

That might be a cool feature that you’re looking for. I rarely use that feature, but it might be something that you want to set up. You can also straight in this photo. If it was a little bit off key so you could get it back to where it’s right where you want it. But we’re going to just keep going sometimes to this might actually for this photo, and I’m not going to save this because we’re just doing this, but maybe for the photo that you want. You want the dog on the other side. So this would be a good example of doing a horizontal flip. And now you have your photo just basically mirrored. You can also do the same from vertical.

Now that image might only be say 10 megabytes, and when you have a ton of images on your website, those will add up and you only get so much space as storage for your website. So having you’re downsizing your images to save up that space is important and you also want to make sure that they are working very well on your webpage. Let’s just click Apply. And also I want to say that I always like to use pixels because pixels is the best way to translate to a website. So we’ll be using this for this course. But this also stays within the same ratio. So like if I say if I did, let’s say if it’s 500 or 5000 it keeps the same dimensions from the top and the bottom. So let me show you what I mean. So let’s go over here to 500 and we’ll click apply. So now this image is just much smaller, but it’s keeping the same height and distance so it’s not distorted. So let’s I don’t really like the 500 Let’s take this back and let’s just resize it to let’s say the size of a large laptop screen. so let’s do 1920 And then click apply. So even though it got a little bit smaller, but we can still see the whole image and when we put it on to our webpage, or our WordPress page we’ll be able to use it in a good standard way. So that is how we can kind of reposition and resize our images, and we’re going to hop over and learn how we can crop this picture to make it the size exact size we want it.
