Video Summary
All right where you are in code, man, and we’re going to start playing around with classes and start playing around with a little bit of CSS. Now we’re gonna get more into all the stuff that I’m showing you. We’re gonna go step by step with what each useful styling thing that we can do within CSS, but for right now this is more of the importance of classes and IDs and when to use them and how. So for right now, we’re going to start off I have two paragraphs. One is the hazard classes just as class one and sense that this is a class paragraph. We have one this is ID, this is ID one, and this is an ID.
So what we’re gonna do is we’re gonna start by putting our dot target and class and remember, we want to use a dot for targeting classes and hashtags for IDs. So we want to add really best practice to is is if you can copy and paste this right in this way, you know you’re targeting that exact class and you don’t have to worry about typos or, or anything like that. So once we get here, let’s say we have, we want to make this font a little bit bigger. So we’re gonna go font size, and we’re gonna put 30 And maybe we want that just a little bit there.
That looks like it could be a nice little title for us. Now, if we were using titles, I would use an h1 tag and this is just more or less than the classic example for showing you how we can target individual owners. So we’re gonna come down here and let’s say we want this color to be and we think alright, that’s good. So maybe want to hop down here and we’re going to market the idea. So we’re gonna do a hashtag, and we’re gonna come in here and just copy that exact copy that over here, put our little curly brackets and now we are going to, let’s say we want that sector that bondable figure but not fixed. Let’s drive on. And maybe we want to have not only have this as the 30 fun side, the blue one different color. And maybe we want this sitting on this little page so we’re gonna text the line nurses.
Alright, so this is how we can actually target different classes and IDs. And basically, on the on the surface right now, the class and IP do the exact same thing. We’re basically just targeting this element and we’re able to we’re able to manipulate it the way we want. But we’re in the next lesson. We’re going to go in and strategies are the difference between when to use a class and when to use it. And really, when we start getting into WordPress, and we are looking at we’re we’re trying to manipulate the themes that someone else builds and we maybe want to change the colors or you know, the font size. We need to be able to understand when they use an ID and when they use a class. so if we want to come in here and just change the font size to 30 or change the color to green, we can figure out okay if this is what class they’re using, and be able to manipulate. So let’s go into the next lesson where we’re going to talk about the strategies of how we can use classes, and how we can use ideas.
