Video Summary
All right, so we just installed or downloaded and activated. All of the required plugins we need to run this theme. Now you might have depending on the series of operations you use to do that, or at least get back to the dashboard page is that you might have gone into a WooCommerce WooCommerce screen where it’s trying to set up your store, or you might have gotten an Elementor pop up screen or page that’s trying to have you connect your account with the website that you’re building to Elementor none of those need to be done right away. If you set them up, by all means you didn’t harm anything you didn’t, you know, hurt anything. But for right now you can just exit out of those screens and basically just try to go to the dashboard and if you are feeling like you’re locked out, all you have to do is type in your demo.
And then put in WP admin at the end with a forward slash WP admin.
Hit enter and now you’re back on this page. So we’re going to install the demo data. So what we’re going to want to do is we’re going to come over here to our folder that our theme folder that has the theme and the child theme files. And we want to do is want to open up the guides or if you and other themes will be called documentation they both are basically the same it’s just helping you figure out how the theme works and where you can access all these different tools. So we’re going to do is we’re gonna come over here and click on index and you can either double click right click or double tap and I’m just gonna open it up in Google Chrome.
And now we should see this page. Okay.
And basically this is the documentation to let you know where everything’s at how you can, you know, set up your header, you can insert your logo, how you download and install the plugins and the themes now I’ve already shown you that but when it comes to importing your demo data, they’re different themes have different, different ways to set that up, but most of them do a one click demo import. So if we come down here and we see that there’s download and install or installation, we’ve done all these steps. We’ve downloaded the theme. We’ve installed and activated the theme. We’ve installed all and activated all the plugins now we want to import the demo data. So we come down here to do one click to import demo.
And we got theme settings. And what was saying is with the visualization here is that if you go to theme settings and you click on demo importer, all you have to do is click on demo or important demo. Okay? So that’s go to sorry, let’s go to our dashboard and let’s find where it says theme settings. Now you can click on this or you can go straight to demo importer, but just for the sake of showing you how this is set up. Now. It automatically puts us to the demo importer. So all we have to do is click Import demo. We’re gonna click on OK.
And while this is installing, and I’m just gonna go over what exactly everything we’re importing right now. So we’re not we’re only we’re importing all the pages we seen in the demo theme. We are importing all the pictures, all of the icons, have the any kind of graphics, the blog articles, really everything that went into the demo original demo that we saw is basically just being downloaded and imported and pretty much setting up our whole site for us. As we seen it so we’re gonna get an exact replica of what we were looking at. So this usually takes anywhere from I’ve seen it done, we’re already done right now, but I’ve seen it take anywhere from maybe 2020 seconds to maybe a couple minutes. Depending on how robust and famous and also to as the internet they’re using might have a good effect on how long it takes for it to import. But once it’s done, what we want to do is come over here, and I always like to go into a new tab just so I’m not having to go back using the back and forth button. I can just really just click and go from here to here and back. So what we’re gonna do is we’re just letting this load the page load and we’re just gonna go scroll through to make sure that all of our pages are working just how we want to.
Now I’m not going to go through each and every page with us.
Just because I don’t want to take up a lot of time, but you can go through and check it out and see if insurance is still there. Your portfolios are working your different pages are working. Now the one thing I am going to show you though, is that we’re going to go over here and click on shop page. Because the reason why I clicked on the shop page is that it’s important for you to make if you’re if you’re planning on having an E commerce section to your website, like you’re going to be selling products and showcasing products. We want to make sure that the shop page is working the way it should. So we’re gonna click on shop page.
Alright, so now we’re on the shop page. And we’re not seeing any, any products or in the demo data and that’s okay because I’m gonna I’m gonna show you the reason why. So we go back over here to the dashboard and we come over here to pages.
Now what I want us to do too is as you can click you can just I just always like clicking these off, just because they take up space, but sometimes there’s some important notifications, so read them before you exit out of them. But what I want to show you is Screen Options.
And we can see that there’s 47 items so there’s 47 pages that we have downloaded, but what I want to show you two is since you can see this is that we have two cart pages, two checkout pages. We have basically like when we installed the platform and we used we installed it with WooCommerce essentially when we import the demo data, we overrated or overrated, the pages that are important. So we got two carts two checkouts, so even though that the shop page isn’t showing up as because if you look at the header, we got shop two because there was already a shop page there. So that basically if we ended up deleting this and hitting enter, we have we see that okay, here is all of the products that I want to show you without knowing that right like as a beginner and you’re getting a situation like this, what you can do is if you click on screen options, and let’s just say this is put this as 50 and then we click Apply.
Then instead of having that page nation where you’re clicking over and over and over again, it basically puts the last 50 pages on this exact page or 50 pages of your website will be seen on this webpage. So if we come down here to this shop page, and the ones that are dedicated, will have a little slash and then say shop page and this one doesn’t. So if you come over here and put this into a new tab and you click on here, boom, you are seeing your shop page. So I just wanted to go over that because some people might have used the just the WordPress just a WordPress platform when they installed it or they might have had the WooCommerce and WordPress so if you went to the page and you didn’t see shocks don’t freak out. That’s the reason why. So that’s usually why I like to when I’m installing a new a new website I’m new doing a new theme I always just like to start off the basic WordPress platform installation and then go from there just to avoid that but it’s not very it’s it doesn’t hurt your site any but it might just create a some a little bit of confusion but with that being said, we have downloaded We’ve downloaded all our imported all the demo data. And now we are looking at the website we saw when we were first picking out our theme.
So for the next lesson, we’re going to hop into the first homepage and we’re really going to explore the Elementor page builder.
