Video Summary
Alright guys, we’re about to start breaking down kind of this contact form and figure out how we can customize it to our business. But before we do, um, I do want to just, let’s just build a random form from scratch because I think that just seeing how this works will be it’ll make a lot easier to decipher what’s happening over here. And another thing before I go, that you guys might be seeing this red exclamation point. And basically that is a kind of a warning sign. If you look over here, one configuration error detected. And basically, when we import the demo data, I’d say about nine times. And these contact forms a contact form seven will have the will have the email that the developer used and what we need right here is the email. That’s the admin email as attached to our website. So we’re going to fix that so don’t worry about if you see this error, that’s going to be fixed and we’re gonna be able to make this work just the way we need to. So what but for now, what I want to do is let’s go over here and we’ll put this into a new tab.
I’m gonna click Add New, and we’re going to start off for just a pretty much a basic, there’s their default version of their other contact forms. So what I’m gonna do is I’m just gonna put in test right here to so when I’m trying to put in an order contact form, I know that this is just the test example.
And what we’re looking at here is we have the text that says your name and then we have this little brackets right here and really what these brackets are is what the actual contact forms are like those are the little elements like the full name you the email address, the insurance type, right? So we come back over here and we go back to the contact form. And let’s just enter down.
All these little buttons right here are our different pieces that we can use in our contact form. So text is basically just like your name your company, just a single line of text of information that you need from the user. Now your email is pretty straightforward as the email that you’re trying to get from the user. You can use a URL so if like, if you want to know what their website is, you can get that tell is telephone number is basically if you’re looking for a number from someone like how much are you willing to spend, this can force them to just use a number. date if you are an event company and you want to know what date they’re looking to book you can use that text area is basically the like, like the paragraph box. So if you want if you want to write more than just like maybe like five to 10 or five or 10 words, you want to write maybe like five or 10 sentences. Text area would be the way to go. drop down menu if you want to have them pick one option out of a multiple of our series of other options. checkboxes allows you to have them check as many boxes as they want. So maybe if you are offering four or five services like and you want to see which ones they are looking at, you can use checkboxes to see which ones are going to work.
Radio buttons are basically it’s like an either or. So you can click on one or the other. So that way you kind of see both both options without having to do a drop down menu. Acceptance. I’m not quite sure I haven’t used that one a bunch quiz. That’s where if you want to have more of like a quiz style form, I don’t really think that’s really necessary. file as if you want them to upload a file for you. So let’s say if you need maybe you’re a T Shirt Company, and you want to see if like they can use their logo for a series of T shirts. But you need that file, right? You can use that there and then submit is just what you put at the bottom. So like when someone clicks that the form, auto populates, right? So I’m gonna just kind of enter down below the submit button and I just want to show you how a few of these work. So like say for instance, if you have let’s do a drop down menu, right here. And basically what it says is like here’s the menu name, so we want to use it you can say service was the say services. And basically we could do auto, we could just do parts we could do service, right? And you’d have different options here. You know, you allow multiple, multiple selections. Insert a blank item as the first option. I’m just leave these here for now. I think that’d be fine. You can you can require a field but let’s just say we like how it is and so we can insert the tag. And now we have this section already right here. So we want the way that this is set up is that each section is an order of itself. And so we always want the Submit button to be the last one. So what we’re gonna do is we’re gonna come up here, we’re going to cut this or Ctrl or Command X. What we’re going to do is let’s just enter this down, and let’s place it right in here. Just paste it right in there. And what I want to do is let’s just save this right now.
And that’s see how this looks. Okay. So let’s go to our Elementor right here, and we’re gonna have to do is we’re going to refresh this and we’re just going to reload the site that’s fine because we weren’t doing any real edits anyways. Because the reason why we want to refresh this is that we just had a new contact form. And when Elementor last was the Elementor page was set up. This contact form didn’t exist. So if we went to be clicked on here, and we went to home and we tried to put that in the test contact form would not have been there. So renewals was put in tasks we’ll see how this looks. So this is what we have so far. We have just like your name, your email the subject, and now we have auto, okay. Now, these ones have these nice little labels. This one doesn’t. So let’s go see.
And now our submit buttons at the bottom. So we just put in a we just we’ve kind of just set up our contact form. We shoot we did a drop down menu. I’m going to go over the contact form seven in great, greater detail later when we get into Plugins. And we’re going over the contact form sections, but I didn’t want to take the time just to show you what is happening right here because in the next video, we’re going to go in deep in depth of how we can customize this, but let’s just take a quick look and understand that every time we see a bracket that is a menu option that we’re using for our contact form and these divs and these classes are what’s giving us the the stylings that we need. So I wanted to stop this video right here. In the next video we’re going to dice set this and be able to customize and make it our own. So I’ll see you the next video.
