Video Summary
All right, in this video, we’re gonna start learning how we can set up our blog articles with the Elementor page builder. But before we can start setting up these blog articles, we want to figure out how we can set up our blog articles page, right? This is the page we go to that displays all the blog articles and the content that we have in our posts. So that way our users can go in and find what information we’re looking for. So in order to do that, what I want to do is just go into dashboard and I like to open up the pages. And when we import the demo data, I’d say 99 out of 100 things has a blog article page, if not 100 out of 100. And they will also potentially set us up with multiple different stylings. So we got to figure out what styling we want to use and then see how we can integrate that into our site. So what I want to do is let’s go scroll down and I found news. Now news is the label of news and blog articles sometimes the label it as like chess or classic or columns and the best way to figure this out is I’m not gonna go to our homepage. I’m gonna go and click on home too. And so then I’ll go over and go okay, here you know, and click on one and go okay, here’s here’s the last balance for this page.
Back up, and what I’m gonna do is I’m just gonna go and make sure that I open up all three of our news, news pages, right? So let’s go through and make sure that they’re all open and what I’ll do is I’ll just kind of scroll through and see what styling I liked. So I also too as we see this Hello World, and the reason why this one is doesn’t have an image is because when we implement download and install the WordPress platform right off the bat, WordPress gives us one toasts, right, it’s always Hello world, but it doesn’t have a featured image. But these blog articles do have featured images. So that’s what they’re displaying. So that’s just why this was not working. But other than that, if I look down here, this is how our blog article looks and I liked the styling. Let’s see what the other ones are. Now we’re going to use two and I am very underwhelmed by this one. Now, if the background when you hover over if that was the background all the time, I maybe think about it because I could take or I could just choose not to display this section right here so you can see a little bit more of a picture, but still I’m still very underwhelmed so I can just exit out of this because I know I’m not going to use it. Now with this one, what we got how many do we got? We got three, three blog articles in there like the super big, super big featured image and its large layout. I don’t like how there’s only three and also two is that this might work for someone if they were if they had a page where maybe it was just maybe your top five blog articles or something that was lumped together and you only want to show that money and you want to you know, throw a big emphasis on each blog article, then that might work. But for right now, I think news one’s going to work and I do want to show you that between news one and news three is that news three has the sidebar widgets. So with blog articles, and sometimes custom post types and WooCommerce pages is that you get to set up your own sidebar widgets. Now that is completely up to you. I think it really works for blog articles and I think it works well for WooCommerce pages because you can help people show them different blog articles different categories, because of different products right you can do calls to action like little advertisements things right here.
Now, once we’re in here, I want to do is I’m gonna scroll over and I’m gonna click on this element and this pops up over here. It says Edit All Posts items. And what I want to show you is if I go here and put posts, and it says post items, we get this little theme icon. So I know this isn’t a part of Elementor this is a this element is a theme specific elements. So what I want I want to do is let’s just click on this again and just see what’s happening. So what we can do is we can try the carousel and see how that loads. And this is a cool way to display blog articles for sure. But I don’t think this is the end all solution for our blog article page. And the reason why that is is that it doesn’t you only get to see three at a time and we want to be able to show a lot more than that. Now I think this scroll or the carousel slide or section would work very well for like an about us page at the homepage. You know maybe somewhere else within the web or at the actual web site, but not the actual blog articles. So let’s see what else we got. We got a list and see if that does anything it does not. And let’s do host large and list.
That’s not terrible, but I still don’t like that one that much. And I this is just gross. In my opinion. So I’m gonna go with post style one. Now you can set up your different image styles. I want them I want them full because like let’s just say if we did a thumbnail, which is small, or I guess they they set it up a little bit larger. But let’s say what’s what’s, what’s posts on them. Let’s see what that looks like. It’s just a matter of oh, there’s not really much difference really is maybe medium. I think if you just do full I think that works the best and you can play with fast. Now also to is I’m gonna scroll down and you can do select by category. So essentially if you want to have a drop down of your news or your blog menu item, that’s where you could potentially set up your own page, use this post post element and say this is category one, Category Two, or you could potentially pick which blog articles you want and put them and that’s what they’ll be displayed as and you can you can order them by date or title or menu order or random or and then from there. You can do it in descending or ascending order. So if you were saying date, you could do newest to oldest oldest to newest. If you were doing Title I think you could do you know that would be you know, a disease you’d have a I think just doing date works fine.
And let’s just see the page nation is this right here. We want to leave that on so they can go from column to column and right now what we’re looking at as we got for large screen size, we got two columns. What would it look like if we had three? Let’s see what that looks like. That looks pretty good. I really liked that layout, but let’s just see what format look like yeah, that’s starting to get a little bit too. Too narrow and then you start having like weird, you know, not every title is gonna be the same. So let’s just say three, three, you know, it puts everything on two lines. For the most part, I think. I think three is the way to go. So I’m gonna choose this as our page. So what I’ll do is I’ll just click Update to make sure our changes are there.
And now what you can do is you could go into the dashboard, go into your menus and now you could set up your own blog article. Right. Another thing you want to do too is is say like say if you change we change this to let’s just refresh this and now you change this to blog, right you got blog here but you’re going to want to do is just a tip is you’re gonna go to pages and you’re gonna find blog, do a quick edit, and we’re gonna do is you’re gonna delete the slug, which means that you’re you’re updating your, your permalink or URL. So I will show you what I mean.
